Book launch: Black & Blue
We did something a little different from our usual this month and supported the launch of new book. ‘Black and Blue’tells the incredible life story of Parm Sandhu, the highest ranking female Asian Police officer in the met to date. She wrote this book alongside Stuart Prebble, a former investigative journalist, and opens up about the racism and sexism she faced in the police.
To bring the launch to life we undertook research to find out how many other people have been a victim of a similar kind of discrimination in the workplace, and found that a quarter had experienced sexism, whilst one in ten had been a victim of racist abuse.
We placed Parm and Stuart in a number of interviews to discuss these shocking statistics and talk about some of Parm’s own experiences. Interviews included Good Morning Britain, Sky News, 5 Live, BBC Asian Network and a number of local BBC radio stations.
