Greene King promote the 2023 Women’s Euros and grassroots sport

- ObjectivePromote Greene King as the place to watch women’s sport and raise awareness of its ‘Proud to pitch in’ initiative
Ahead of the Women’s Euros, Greene King wanted to shine a light on the lack of awareness the was in the women’s game. It did this by carrying out research which found that most people could name a men’s football player, but very few knew a women’s player.
We worked with England’s most capped player – Fara Williams – ahead of England’s first game in the tournament to share this research and encourage people to head to their local and watch the match.
Then following the success of the Lionesses, we then did a follow up piece which looked at grassroots support for women’s sports. This raised awareness of Greene King’s ‘Proud to pitch in’ initiative which provides funding to teams.
Here we worked with former Lioness, Rachel Yankey, and secured interviews on CNN, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, BBC News, Sky Sports News, talkSPORT, talkRADIO, Sky News, BBC 5 live, and 13 BBC regional stations.
