About

We worked with Whatsapp to education the British public on avoiding scams.

STOP. THINK. CALL. That’s the advice that came from WhatsApp, The National Trading Standards Friends Against Scams campaign, and Citizens’ Advice, if you suspect a scam. This advice comes after media giant WhatsApp discovered that 59% of people have received, or know someone who has received, a message-based scam in the last year!
Having grown up with mobile phones and messaging being the preferred method of communication, people are more vulnerable than ever to message-based scams. Younger people are more susceptible to these scams, with under 34’s preferring text-based communication to phone calls (89%).
The campaign aimed to educate the British public on how to identify and avoid being scammed by WhatsApp, as well as providing the steps people can take to protect themselves and their contacts.
We secured coverage on a wide range of programmes and stations, including Sky News, London Live, Channel 5 News, and many more.
