About

The summer of 2022 celebrated the achievements of women in sport, with the Lionesses being crowned champions at the Euros.

Ahead of this, Bumble discovered a trend of ‘downplaying’. This was where women would be hesitant to bring up an interest in sports on a date due to a fear of being judged or challenged on their knowledge.

We partnered with Lioness, Katie Zelem, who opened about her personal experience as a female athlete, and the challenges she had faced, including lying about her career when meeting new people.

The story ran on talkSPORT, Heart, BBC 5 Live, LBC, BBC Manchester, BBC Leeds, BBC Newcastle, BBC Lincolnshire, BBC Leeds BBC Hereford & Worcester, BBC Cornwall and Greatest Hits Manchester.
