Challenge: Opening Up Conversations That Help Patients Express Themselves
Accord Healthcare wanted to encourage more open conversations around prostate cancer and address topics that are often overlooked, including sexual health, incontinence, emotional wellbeing and quality of life. The campaign needed to engage patients in an accessible way while supporting better dialogue between patients, families and healthcare professionals.
Insight: A Trusted Voice Can Give Others Permission to Speak
Topics like incontinence, sexual health and emotional wellbeing during prostate cancer are rarely discussed openly, even between patients and the people closest to them.
A podcast format offered a way around this. Hearing a recognisable, trusted figure like Jeff Stelling speak candidly about subjects patients might feel embarrassed to raise themselves gave listeners permission to do the same, with their families, their healthcare professionals and each other. The strategic opportunity wasn’t just to inform, but to model the conversation, normalising topics that stigma usually keeps unspoken and giving patients a way in to discussions they may have been avoiding.
Solution: A Patient Activation Campaign Built Around Honest Storytelling
The result was The Unmentionables: Unfiltered Conversations on Prostate Cancer, a patient activation campaign centred around a podcast series hosted by sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling and supported by a digital discussion guide.
We delivered full-service podcast production, supporting editorial development, guest coordination and recording logistics to ensure the conversations were handled with authenticity and care. Production included multi-camera filming and remote guest integration, followed by comprehensive post-production across both audio and video formats. Social cutdowns were also created to support wider campaign reach.
