Broadcast Revolution’s unique Newsroom model opens up broadcast opportunities for the University of Bath that they wouldn’t have otherwise had access to. By facilitating an always-on broadcast strategy which encompasses both proactive and reactive PR, and generating over 100 pieces of coverage in 2023 alone, Broadcast Revolution has “significantly helped to elevate the profile of University of Bath academics among radio and TV producers from across the country”

Who Are They: A public research university with a national and international reputation for quality.

Sector: Higher Education

Objective: The University of Bath approached Broadcast Revolution’s Newsroom to help them raise their profile as a leading academic voice on worldwide politics, to encourage more top-class academics to work with them and to attract more students from the UK and overseas.

The Challenge: Being able to access broadcast opportunities not only from proactive, planned moments but also from breaking news.

What We Delivered: The Broadcast Revolution Newsroom has been working with the University of Bath since 2022. In 2023 alone, we have generated more than 100 pieces of coverage for their spokespeople. We have achieved this not just through campaigns, however, but also through the latest breaking news stories where we offered the university’s academics for commentary, thanks to our close relationships with newsrooms.

The News Agenda Hook: When the news broke overnight that Jacinda Arden was resigning as New Zealand’s Prime Minister, the University of Bath was top of mind for Broadcast Revolution. We reached out to see if they had an expert available, and Professor Hilde Coffe was the exact voice news producers were looking for. Professor Coffe is a specialist in gender politics and lived in New Zealand when Jacinda Ardern was first elected.

Within less than one hour of emailing producers, we secured interviews for the University of Bath on Sky News, BBC News, BBC World, Channel 5 News, GB News, Times Radio and BBC Radio 5 Live. Our key role between brands and news producers allows Broadcast Revolution to be plugged into the news agenda, and able to offer these valuable opportunities to our curated panel of experts.

Impact: “Working with Broadcast Revolution has significantly helped to elevate the profile of University of Bath academics among radio and TV producers from across the country. Across a host of topics, Broadcast Revolution helped to source media opportunities and build connections between Bath experts and media planners.

Thanks to the team’s extensive contacts and proactiveness in responding to news agendas, our researchers are now regularly appearing on national and international media outlets, sharing their research and expertise and more broadly helping to inform public debates.”
